32×32 winner-take-all matrix with single winner selection

A 32 × 32 winner-take-all (WTA) matrix with single winner selection is introduced. A high-resolution gain-boosted regulated-cascode WTA circuit is used in a first competition stage. Because of the large number of competing cells the possibility of a multiple winners situation arises. A single winner is obtained by means of a digital inhibitory circuit following each WTA analogue amplifier. Simulations show that this mixed analogue-digital circuit achieves its objective with a current resolution of approximately 10 nA (0.8% of the maximum input current in the simulated case). A time response of ?s can be achieved.
Time response of TOF spectrometer to light and heavy particles

Comparing time of flight (TOF) values for α particles and fission fragments measured at different distances between the start- and stop detector we have obtained 60 ps as the upper limit for the TOF error resulting from the assumption of equal and linear time calibrations for both types of particles. While the 60 ps limit relates only to the specific spectrometer, the problem and the suggested verification technique are of general interest.
Time response of avalanche photodiodes as a function of the internal gain

Abstract Using a red LED and a blue laser as a light source, time response of avalanche photodiodes and Metal-Resistive Silicon (MRS) layer avalanche photodiodes [1] has been measured. A strong dependence of the time resolution on the internal gain has been observed. The obtained results show that the increase of the internal gain improves the time resolution. However, there exists a critical value for the internal gain. Beyond this value a deterioration of the time resolution is observed.

Sepsis is a severe and multifactorial disease with a high mortality rate. It represents a strong inflammatory response to an infection and is associated with vascular inflammation and oxidative/nitrosative stress. Here, we studied the underlying time responses in the widely used lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced endotoxaemia model in mice and rats. LPS (10 mg/kg; from Salmonella Typhosa) was intraperitoneally injected into mice and rats. Animals of every species were divided into five groups and sacrificed at specific points in time (0, 3, 6, 9, 12 h). Time response of the vision binocularity by use of dynamic suppression of retinal images

We present a novel technique for determination the stereopsis dynamic response, using as stimulus a random dot stereopair. Stereopsis can be evoked or depressed by continuous or flash illumination of the stimulus with simultaneous control of a special light scattering obstacle build in the visual path of one eye. The obstacle--a thin plate of electrooptical PLZT ceramics-- exposes (by applying of the voltage to semitransparent gold electrodes deposited on both surfaces of the plate) light scattering so blurring the retinal image, similar as for an eye with a cataract, depressing stereopsis.
